Intentions agreement
Real Madrid and Santa Pola agree to create a Santiago Bernabéu house/museum
Real Madrid and the Town Hall of Santa Pola have signed an intentions agreement for the construction of a house/museum in memory of Santiago Bernabéu.
Real Madrid President Ramón Calderón and the Mayor of Santa Pola, Miguel Zaragoza Fernández, met in the Santiago Bernabéu's Board Room this morning to sign an intentions agreement for the construction of a house/museum in the memory of Don Santiago Bernabéu. The town on the Spanish east coast, where Don Santiago used to spend his holidays, will hold the largest collection of objects in his memory."The museum will be a pilgrimage destination for Madridistas who wish to learn about part of the history of this Club," said Calderón.
"The town of Santa Pola is extremely happy and excited about this project," said the Mayor. "We wish to create a museum in the house of Santiago Bernabéu, located in a street named after him. This is a way of bringing Madridismo to our town. Bernabéu's presence there is part of the history of Santa Pola. We regarded him as one of our citizens because of the long periods of time he spent there. I even believe he ran the Club from Santa Pola."
The museum will comprise the house in the state it was when Bernabéu inhabited it, as well as objects and photographs that recall the former Real Madrid President.
